Federal Constitutional Court on Red and Vehicle are part of the ongoing series I Try Not to Think About It, which takes a critical look at global processes of autocratization.
Together, the two works form a diptych around a recent event: in August 2025, a legal scholar withdrew her candidacy for the Federal Constitutional Court after a smear campaign by the global right-wing think tank CitizenGo targeted her for publicly criticizing the inconsistency of current abortion laws — ultimately making her nomination politically untenable. She stepped back to prevent the Court from becoming collateral damage. Painted on red viscose and silk, materials evocative of the robes worn by the Court's judges, the smaller painting depicts one of CitizenGo's campaign vans; the larger portrays the institution itself.
